Macy’s on State Street is one of the largest department stores in the world and is recognized as a National Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 

Formerly the Marshal Field’s flagship store, this spectacular building was built, and then rebuilt after the Chicago Fire in the late 1800s. Makes most modern structures look like they’re built from toothpicks and bits of plastic, which they are, sort of.
