Handicrafts @ Dilli Haat, New Delhi, India.

All too often, designers specify materials, finishes and processes that they’ve seen used elsewhere or heard about. While not every designer can be the Louis Kahn of ‘What do you like, brick?’ fame, it is desirable that they not be mere stylists either. To know a material, we recommend actually using that material – feel it, machine it, mold it, finish it, push it and break it.

At this show, everything was made by hand. Not created for super-mass production, these designs, their skillful use of materials and methods of manufacture clearly convey mastery of the medium. Enjoy.

hmm, now i am virtually following your trip (and i am enjoying this more because i have missed my travel opportunities since last summer), and you asked me if i want something from there.. and since i like fabric thingies, i would like to have a stuffed thing like on the second picture, something small. blur pink giraffe (?) on the left side of the photo looks nice (triangle birds are also nice!). if you can find a rabbit that is not too cute, rather cheeky (and sad), that would be great!! but only if you can.

keep on going, i am enjoying your trip!!
